Wasn't profit taking my friend. The bounce to 4.22 was caused by short covering - citi is one of the heaviest shortest stocks around. Vikram's positive comments about the profitabilitiy of C caused a lot of shorters to lose money. No change to outlook or strategy necessary. Wait for Govt to divulge how they intend to dispose of their 27% stake. I'm hoping to load up at around 3.2 - 3.4. Thinking of eating bread for one month to load up on bullets heh. Cheers.

We are hoping that it will hit US$5 and US$10 next..... Saw the profit forecast by 2012. Yippie. Still vested : )

Think US stocks is still better than STI stocks.... Sometimes you buy alittle higher but it probably takes a few month and not years to rebound to that level.

 Alert Admin 		Congrats to those who stayed on with the downs and ups.  At least it pays off.  Closed US$4.18 up 22 cents.  I remembered someone said when GIC or Temasek sold off their Citi shares, it will then rise.  Previously at the crisis was 86 cents.  GIC/Tsk started selling.  I bought some and made some good profit, but cleared all positions when it was at 3 bucks.  Congrats again!!!

But if you're looking for dividends, I believe u're aware there's a 30% tax by the US on the dividends so it's not as quite worthwhile as local dividend stocks like Elec and Eltek which is currently yielding about 11% based on today's price of US$2.2. My holding is earning 17% in dividends so it's been a happy Feb/Mar for me so far :)

For those thinking whether to dive into the stock now, do bear in mind that come 16th March, the US govt will have to reveal how and when they intend to divest of their 27% stake in the company. It's highly unlikely they'll sell below $4 since they were heavily criticised for trying to trade in the stockmarket when they didn't sell at $5. They bought in at $3.25.

Also, if they state they're selling all 27% at one go, the price will fall... dramatically. A more likely scenario is for them to divest of their stake over a few months and once Citigroup is free of govt control, the price will surge akin to Bank of America. The worst case scenario is for the govt to state they're selling but only towards the end of the year, the price will experience range trading and probably slide downwards slowly.

My personal feel is that buying below $4 is relatively cheap but I don't wish my money to be stuck for too long, so I'm waiting for the announcements before investing further. Cheers.

 Alert Admin 		Thanks but unfortunately I bought in at the previous support of 4.15, averaged down at 3.35. Just broke even yesterday but it's sure nice not to see red anymore.
