richtan, i think jj refers to BDI, Baltic Dry Index, the meanings can be found in wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltic_Dry_Index some information are copied from wikipedia here to help reading How it worksThe index is made up of an average of the Baltic Supramax, Panamax, and Capesize indices. These indices are based on professional assessments made by a panel of international shipbroking companies. The index can be accessed on a subscription basis directly from the Baltic Exchange as well as from major financial information and news services such as Thomson Financial Datastream, Reuters and Bloomberg L.P.. Most directly, the index measures the demand for shipping capacity versus the supply of dry bulk carriers. The demand for shipping varies with the amount of cargo that is being traded or moved in various markets (supply and demand). The supply of ships (cargo transports) is much less elastic than the demand for them, so the index indirectly measures global supply and demand for the commodities shipped aboard dry bulk carriers, such as building materials, coal, crude oil, metallic ores, and grains. Because dry bulk primarily consists of materials that function as raw material inputs to the production of intermediate or finished goods, such as concrete, electricity, steel, and food, the index is also seen as an efficient economic indicator of future economic growth and production. The BDI is termed a leading economic indicator because it predicts future economic activity.[2] |

Volume is still extremely thin. Although the mkt seemed to have recovered from the big drop in the start, I do believe it's a bear trap and might come down afternoon when all funds exited and leaving us the retail investors to hold their babies. Trade cautiously! Good Luck! | ||||

Thank you for all the empathy, well should consider lucky that I cut lost yesterday before mkt closed. Today STI is going to be slaughtered. Today will be big drop because DJ is -500pts and it's futures is not showing any recovery and in 3 digits RED. Those who wish to play the mkt today, may I suggest SHORT!

168, u will hv your day. Thus why today AK asking what OCBC report card result, before I short UOB. OCBC profit down 13% but it gain 21 cts today. Is it justifiable??? Just because STI surged because of Obma. U will fully understand why by end of the day DBS only up 2 cts fr gaining of 50 ovr cts early the morning. What ups 2morrow for this burger??? Simple man will know, as his record book will be opened this Fri. Ha ha, try your luck, ask your TR to Q 38 cts lower at 0830 2morrow. CA applies.

i can empathise with u 168.. in such mkts, sell on news is common... if wanna do rapid, ned to devote ur time looking at screens.. for me i cant afford.. i got a full time job!

Today I got trapped. Forget that mkt will high in anticipation in Obama President Elect and once elected, the mkt will LS. True enough it happened immediate after 12.00pm that news announce Obama lanslide victory. Managed to sell DBS will a little profit, but greedy on STX that I thought might go up after lunch. Pui, LS after mkt reopen at 2.00pm. Instead of making $500+ in the morning, sold off with a lost of $800. Heart pain! |

what a day, looking at TV n Online screen, esp in the morning. Ha ha, AK keh kiang ah, had lost 16 lots of SPC for tech naked shorting. Didn't make it since last week till today. Will buy them back end Dec, Xmas period, lull period. Still keeping few for gaming. he he. For last few weeks no buy, but got sell. Got fun to short UOB, so far beow phai leh, got kopi $. Today early, go in 14.06 hoe shei liow, instead took 13.86 when seeing Obama won the race at noon. DJ tonite may not show good. EU seems dun like non white president leh. | ||||
