Appreciate the reply.  Don't worry; I know you already expected bad ratings prior to posting.  To me, this is not about bad/good ratings but discouraging/appreciating valid perspectives.  (I dare not claim innocent cos, at times, we can be an emotional bunch).   This is about what we want SJ to be.  

One of the reasons I am here (SJ) is to get info/perspectives on the market to help me form my view.  But lately, things just seem different.  I notice some shi-fu don't post anymore.  (What would they gain by posting?  Appreciation?)  Watching the good/bad ratings was sort of fun in the past...to see people supporting such and such view...sort of an indicator, I guess.  But now, you only need to look at the good/bad ratings and you'll be able to guess the content of the postings (i.e. good means bullish and bad means bearish).     

So, what do we want SJ to be -- a forum to help us learn, grow, minimise losses, and hopefully make $?  Or, a popularity forum -- vote for the perspective that we PREFER...at the expense of eliminating valid ones (the REAL shi-fu)?  Just my opinion....   

BTW, a belated "thank you" to you for the T.A. purist article.  I esp appreciate the non-boring, down-to-earth writing style.

On the subject of rate cuts, it will have an impact 6-8 months down the road, very unlike fiscal stimulus. Unemployment figures are laggard indicators but under the dire consequences we are in I do agree it will provide insights on the deteriorating or improving heath of the US economy. As they say all road leads to America.

Thanks for helping me. Its ok. I'm not really bothered by the bad posts... its expected that some people don't like to hear views that conflict with their own.

Anyway, I still think interest rate cuts provide only short term relief. Like what you mentioned, there was a whole series of rate cuts in the past few months but nothing worked. It only caused a few dead cat bounces. What makes the current situation different? I don't see signficant global economic differences between now and 2-3 months ago.

The current stock market is now really dependent on economic news. TA and FA analysis are now mostly thrown out of the window - those will  work only in a stable environment.

I think we have reached a bottom when I see these things happening -

1. Job figures start to improve

2. Retail spending increases

3. New housing numbers rise 

Hi cashiertan, what do you mean when say "until HSI closes"? You meant tracking the European market?
