i didnt make big money as my capital are not alot. But frankly speaking, US exchange market are better than sti in my view. At least it never drop so many days compared to sti. sti follow hsi, china , dow jones,europe .  Any 1 country lao sai, sti also laosai. But through this minor correction, short term investment are good. I alway go in and out on same day or next day. Holding on to any stock now for too long that time are quite dangerous. Now i dont hold stock too long unless that company really can withstand correction, for eg aei and saizenreit. Las vegas sometime can increase 1 dollar a day. and 1 dollar mean easily can earn alot in a day. Sti, alot blue chip can earn big too in a day. So to enter in a right low price with lot of patience are needed. Every stock seem have a yoyo price range. I alway wait capitaland to fall to 2.4 something then sell at 2.7something in past. And it actually fly after 5times of such pattern, and i never buy it again as it is too high.

Anyway in short, different ppl have their own style of buying stock, as long as what ipunter said alway, as long as you are not losing money, you are winning. So now there are 3 stocks for me to buy, if happened what i choose to buy the one that increased the less among 3, i will still be happy as i still earned. The more greedy one is, the more he will lose money sooner or later.

I think it not logical to long and short the same counter ba.

But i have hear of long and short counters within the SAME SECTOR.

For example, u feel DBS will grow faster than UOB.

Then u will LONG DBS and SHORT UOB

As long as ur above judgment is correct, you will earn regardless of which the overall market goes.

But bear in mind, the interest rate for CFD is not cheap therefore not many ppl use it
