STI to cross 3000 boosted by long-term investors

Just curious, is it more likely for a pure chartist to get out of the market in mid-June or end of July?

I don't think people who knows how to read the chart will lost money.

It's the people who don't know how to read the chart that loses money.

This chart simply tells me that many players are cautious and trading less, while confidence in the market are slowly recovering.

Most likely, the fall in volume is caused many amateur players exiting the market after they were burnt by the market crash.

To me, this is an entry point.

Charts are useful only when you've decided you want to exit and want to have short-term timing signal. Otherwise, why bother?

Wah if that person is so smart (or so lucky), instead of putting in Euro or British pound, than good for him. But is it believable everyone who got out of stocks put their money in Aussie dollar?

The rise of STI from 31 July to current level is only about 16% from March lows over a priod of 8 months. If one were to put your money in DBS or OCBC foreign currency fixed deposit in AUD dollars, you would gain 30% over th same period, not including interest paid every month for the past 8 months. So, where is the regret?

Dear all Sharejunction Investors and Traders,

From observations in the past years, if it is real bull run, the volume and price will sweep up rapidly and going on uptrend. If history is going to repeat itself again, the following scenario is possible in the next 3 months, assuming FED keeps the rate at near zero for extended period of time till Sep 2010:

a. DOW Jones can climb average 53 pts x 60 trading days = 3180 pts, DOW will hit over 14,000 by end June 2010.

b. STI can climb average 20 pts x 60 trading days = 1200 pts, STI will hit over 4,000 by end June 2010.

Bearing any unforeseen circumstances, stocks always hit a new peak after a real bull run. Also, STI index mirrors DOW Jones very closely, hitting the peak at about the same time as DOW.

Let's hope that the self-fulfilling prophecy comes true (above), as history repeats itself as it has done repeatedly so in the past 30 years.

South Korean navy ship sinking off west coast

AP - Saturday, March 27

SEOUL, South Korea – Officials say a South Korean navy ship is sinking off the country's west coast near the maritime border with North Korea.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said late Friday that it's not clear what caused the ship to sink. A rescue operation is under way to save crew members on board.

Authorities say the ship began sinking around 10:45 p.m. (1345 GMT) in the Yellow Sea.
