you see ah. theory wise, market can only go 3 ways up down side. so 33% chance it will go 1 way, or 66% chance you will breakeven or go up. or breakeven and go down. so basically you got 1/3 chance to win or lose. however, when we buy stocks, that doesnt happen! i tend to lose 90% of the time! so unfair. don buy it go up, buy liao it go down. 100% inversely related.

In stockmarket listen to no one but your self. When some ask you to Sell, its because they are shorting. Keep some stock for potential multi-baggers (ie .C&C bot at $3, China Gaoxian...). You need these multi-baggers to keep your sanity. The rest, do some trading ...(win some , loose some its OK). It's difficult to Sell when market is up, but it is easier to Switch from one share to another company share to lock in your profit and do a set-off. Can then ask your Remisier to do a set-off too. That way, you won't regret selling at a lower High. When market is up, generally all stocks also up. From trading you can keep learning and have fun, who knows, it could be your next job when age catches up and you need to give up your job. The only rule i know is Buy when they Sell... |

wa Sifu iApple and iPunter! good post..for those not wealth off and no time to trade just like me...buy & hold will not be exist in Singapore market, unless it's free cash (base on my term). free cash means when buy 10 lot of a counter, the price when up until you can sell 9 lot for the price of 10lot, your 1 lot in the stock would be consider free cash, of course it must be potential, e.g. good dividend, base on historical high and low. of course i am not reccomending anyone doing it..by doing this way..building asset will be slower but may be much safer..correct me if i am wrong, Cheers!

agree fully. i lost 8k out of my 10k capital during lehman crash when i was in tekong. i consoled myself saying that i in NS cant do much trading and monitoring. nvm i will just hold until i ORD. that was how i managed to survive. but now even just 500 also can make me lose sleep. cause everyday i will monitor on comp. to hold and watch it sink, is worse than death.cause every time it drops, it is like dying. how many times can you watch it bleed? it would be a lot better if it had just delist or bankrupt. at least people will face and accept the loss. if not, everytime it bleed, people die emotionally and mentally.

Sifu iApple's post is very good. Holding in a downtrend is only for those rich people who will not have to worry when they lose a lot of money while holding. But for those less well-off, asking them to hold (in a downtrend) is not a good thing to do. Because one can never tell how much more they will be losing by holding on. A more sensible advice is to suggest they cut loss when it is still a small loss.

i share your views on GAR. as it is USD weakening, and also commod prices are falling as of today. i will Q to sell at .74. what is your take on GHK daniel. i thinking best to cash out, cause 1 sgd strengthening,i lose forex. 2 sgd up, usd down meaning less investment from overseas. i want hold also scared later SGD too strong, the conversion will eat up all profits, as it is i making losses for this counter. main holdings in GHK now. 6k in GHK, around 4k in GAR. need to free up my 6k in case really market fall, at least i will still have 10k to buy banks and other counters. this round take it as i lose 2k+ in the market ba. |

Okay.. i will make it easier to understand and RECAP.. Genting SP.. For those who are long and are on contra and ka chng kana peet. If it drops below 2.05 and makes a clear descent towards the MA100 which is moving towards 1.86... then close your positions .. consolidate your losses and wait for a better timing.. other wise if you have the guts/ balls... short it to hell. For those who are long and can afford to pay up.just pay up and hold for long. Simple logic.. buy and hold long. For those who are short and need to close position: Don't close it yet.. let it run .. see how low it can go .. put a trailing stop for profit lock in. For GAR: I'm pretty sure that despite it having a possible rebound.. it's gonna fall right back to the MA20 or even below because commods and usd very volatile and GAR depends alot on these two as well... So for those who are long and need to close contra.. if it falls belows 0.72 .. just close it and get out of there.. becuase theortically it should be going for a short upside base on the charts.. if it doesn't even move abit further up .. it means it's a goner right now.. then just close it at 0.72 .. no additonal loss to you since it's 0.72 anyway... For those who can pay up .. Buy and hold as usual. For those who are shorting and need to close position.. if it moves further up then 0.74.. you should close your positions as THEORTICALLY it should hit 0.74 and bounce right back down .. if it doesn't means got weird problem again.. There .. i said it fair and square.. summing it up and giving what you guys wanna hear.. step by step ... Win or lose don't blame me.. i just giving my 2 cents worth. |

you guys are very funny... Buy and HOLD.... Did you read through the forum... how many of them can't sleep during the night? Bec' of they HOLD the wrong ones right now! If you really PAY IT forward...tell them to cut loss at what price.. and which particular stock to buy in at what price? what is the holding period! Stop saying BUY n HOLD...this sentence... appear in any investment knowledge web site P.S> even you don't queue in early in the morning ...they already know what price to SHORT. Give you an example on last friday... the pre opening ASK is 2.15 (qty> 1,000 lots). It opened at ? 2.10 ...you think they care abt the small fish queue at what price? STOP DREAMING.
