Just wondering how many more getting poorer, while some rich is getting richer teeth53 ( Date: 05-Jul-2009) Posted: Property and it prices - Outlook for 2008 Unemployment reported..., economy reported suggesting news out do not sound good. NTUC Deputy Sec-Gen said...Ms Halimah Yacob cited recent Data showed a DOUBLING OF THOSE CLASSSIED AS LONG TERM UNEMPLOYED: 16,000 WORKERS TOOK MORE THAN 25 WEEKS TO FIND A JOB - UP FROM 7,500 A YEAR AGO. Jobs situation will worsen if those that is retrenched in 1st Q joined those retrenched in 2nd Q, while 124,500 workers signed up for SPUR training, 1,800 companies, 2/3 sent by their employers. 19,000 job - seekers were placed in jobs through Spur. funded S$210m out of S$650m mainly for courses. S'pore MOM. Mr Gan Kim Yong mentioned unemployment remain or to rise further with labour market soft for d next one to two quarter and with d economy outlook still uncertain. The next few weeks on Wall St are unlikely to give investors any reason to jump back into stocks. But enough optimism remains in place and enough government money will flood the system - that a bigger selloff can probably be avoided, said Gary Webb, CEO at Webb Financial Grp. Friday's much worse than expected June jobs report sent investors heading for the exits in a thinly traded session ahead of the Independence Day holiday weekend.

I think it should be median monthly HOUSEhold income, not each singaporean's income as can be verified by Singstat statement below. 20 Jan 2009 ... Median monthly household income from work among all resident households increased by 13 per cent from $4380 in 2007 to $4950 in 2008. After ... A Malaysian friend was lamenting that food is more expensive in Malaysia. She used numerical figures to compare. A senior tr's pay in Malaysia is about RM6000 while a senior tr's pay in spore is $S6000 but in spore you can get $2.50 for a bowl of noodles or chicken rice while in Malaysia it cost at least RM3. On the other hand, a 3-bedroom terrace house (in Msia) cost RM150K versus a 4-rm HDB (3 bedrooms) of at least S$300K in open markets. We got cheap food bcos we import from cheaper countries (currency advantage), but our housing is expensive due to limted land. The resale price of HDB flat is crazy, it is still increasing even though the economic is bad. The sellers are still asking at least $S20k cov as there are demands from PRs and new couples.

Agree. Dun take MOM statistics as the gospel truth. Chances are data is skewed. The average salary of $4155 is the biggest BS I've heard to date.

I am unable to believe that that is true. The more important thing to note is the per capita income of Singaporeans, (don't include the foreigners whose average pay ranges from S$15,000 to $80,000 per month, from non-official estimates). If we are to take the per capita income, we find that most average Singaporeans are really poor.

Ha ha, d most happiest people living in d world r those living in Coasta Ricca. On d other hand, ard our regions, majority of d country folks living in d sub-urban/rural/kampong r much happier than those squading in d over populated urban areas. Though d luxurious n exciting ways of life in d cities were not well propagated to d rural areas, d simple folks still feel at ease at their current way of life. Basically, contention, passing down fr gererations in d isolated areas, is d word. Compares between people, choke u to death loh, cheers. |

The problem is that many of the poor are getting poorer while there is little help to bring the poor out of the poverty trap. Maybe help is there, but is insufficient. We need to not only boost their earnings capability but also provide realistic help. Realistic=real not rhetorical (why cannot help because it makes them lazy, sh**) | ||||

Ha ha, AK opines that d closest ans is money, money, money. There was one wise saying, used since ancient China, " Thousands of Evil's stuff, top the list is Money". Some say Sex?? The other wise saying which was also widely used is "Money can make use of Ghost to operate d grinder". Typical live examp, ie influences under current financial crisis, quarrel, commotions, fighting n killing, suicide cases etc. These are news can be found daily on papers, web sites or even in d civil streets. D moral of the story is if one can take up something, he must be able to leave even without it. But, still agreed it is very difficult to cope with stress, the wise Chinese saying again, " Every home got a bible which is very difficult to read n understand". Simply means, each an individual has his own problems, be it current of accumulated ones, not easy to solve over mins, hr, days or even yrs. Cheers n be happy all the while. |

Stress Alleviation or solution...Over the thousands of years of our human existence we have developed many ways to cope with stress. So how do people typically alleviate stress?
The first few forms of stress alleviation can be very hazardous to our health and are not for those with weak hearts. The best stress alleviation methods put back into our systems what the stress takes out. Exercise, proper diet and mental relaxation are the best ways to deal with stress.
