I can see that you belong to the Investor Group.  There's a difference between investing in stocks or playing stocks.  To invest for a stable return, most of what you said is very true. To play a stock(for short term like contra), I think Technical Analysis and watching price movement are the priority. So it actually depend on individual whether they want to invest in a stock or play a stock. A company can have  very good fundamental and value but if BBs, Funds etc are not interested, the price still won't move.  I personally won't buy this kind of counter and wait for BBs or Funds to get interested because I don't know how long I have to wait. I will prefer to buy a counter with potential and which BBs and Funds have  immediate  interest in it.  Like that, I can see my return faster.  Juat my 2-cents worth! Corrections and volatility do occur in the short term but in the long term, prices will still match back to their fundamentals for these companies (unless their fundamentals really change). Therefore, for companies which no longer have any potential growth and if their annual dividends paid out per year is very little, it's intrinsic value would be matched accordingly (some S-chip companies pay really miserable dividends and I can't see how much growth they can produce with their retained earnings). Ultimately, the thing I look out for in companies is whether they have value or not. And I would only buy if they are really cheap and considering their stability and risk, whether for capital gain companies or dividend-play companies. I learn from him " Short to Strength" , " Short at Resistance" and " Short weak stock" . I don't short because I don't have the time to sit there and monitor for a long time. But when I retired in the future, I will certainly learn to short because that's another way of making money.  As for holding for long term, I personally don't favour that. I think people who loss most are those that hold for long term. In my opinion, the  returns doesn't mean that the longer we hold, we will make more money. Stocks will move more when peoples see the company's potential to continue growth each year regardless whether they are currently in the red.  A company that always makes money with not much growth won't move much.  For me, if I were to hold a stock, I will prefer to buy a counter not only with  potential, but  most important the counter must be the popular one which BBs wants to push up. For some counters, BBs will keep pushing it high maybe within 1 month to a few months. When BBs loss interests in it,  then it is time to  let go and source for another such counter. You see, by doing that our money will not be locked for a long time. No point keep a stock for 10 years or 20 years. How many 10-20 years do we have. Take for example Singtel. I sold it not long after it was listed at $4.00. How many years have gone and the price is still below $4.00. It's a waste of time. If a big correction occurs, I prefer to sell all my holdings and buy back later. Have a nice weekend too! Huat ah

I realize not everyone has to follow my philosophy of investing. Even traders and punters, or even shortists (even though I still dislike them since they are in a position against mine) have significant roles to play in the stock market. Ultimately, it has got to do with the underlying intention of why one do something that determines what's good or bad. Trading or " gambling" in stocks can be a healthy interest and hobby and even fun as long as one is not too obsessed in it. As long as treated like just a leisure activity and not place too heavy emphasis on it, it can be an engaging and enjoyable activity. I benefited from your " Great Wall of China" and market depth theory. Would also like to take the opportunity to thank sifu teeth53 as I also benefited from his IPO analysis and market depth analysis. Lastly, also to Bro KelvinLim123 (if he happens to be reading), even though sometimes his words are rude and unkind, what he said about cutting loss and " trend is your friend" is actually correct, especially for short-term trading and punting. Failed to see from his point of view that time as a short-term trader or investor for certain stocks.   All the rules and regulations in this club are therefore very correct especially when the time horizon is short. Unless one is really very sure about the growth prospects and future value of a company (that does not pay dividends yet), investing long term can be a " scary" affair and need lots of patience. Didn't know how to cut loss before, and now still baby sit many many counters from the poor experience before. Pai Seh to tell you how many counters I am babysitting now. Just to tell you it is many. So, I really cannot to afford to hold even 1 more at the moment, unless I am able to clear any one of them if they happen to KI SIAU to move nearer to my buying price, I am ready to cut just like what you did for your Innopac. Unless I hear good comments from Sifus in the examples of Innopac and Unionmet, then I still hold. But FL, it was ready not I wanted to buy, I was tricked into it by the fake buy q. And Bro Stockcham already informed BOH SHUI for the closing. Another sifu also said not a good sign for that closing, so I really don't want to hold and pray hard any more. Guess what, after cutting, so peaceful though paid tuition fee, and was able to crack jokes and enjoy free shows in SJ for Thursday and Friday. If not, would be so tensed. LOL. Last minute saw the big qs at 147 fully disappeared, and 146 also disappeared, immediately tried to withdraw, rejected, it was already done at 146. At opening, immediately sold down to 145, mine done. Went down a bit, I observed first, and it did move up a bit, should have sold higher looking at all these negative signs, again, hope it can move up, finally came down again, immediately I cut at 143. Have decided not to q before opening seeing too many fake buy qs b4 opening. Even if I will q, must know how to look at negative signs and withdraw quick enough. Since I am not so good yet to read signs, will not q at the moment b4 opening. And then see it should match at 146 or 147, got deceived, and didn't withdraw. Well, indeed learnt a great lesson, saw the fake buy q b4 opening 3 days in a row. Wednesday in Centurion, Thursday in FL and Friday in ISOTeam. Sure already grow wiser after this 3 days lesson. At least shouldn't fall into this same trap again. LOL. Ok, now I learned that we get the order ready, but leaving the last step right? And any moment, just press the button. Anyway, will try my very best not to put myself into this kind of last minute scenario again. For those who are still new, hope you learn from my experience, so you don't have to pay tuition fee again to learn for yourself. I q 145 Wednesday night. Thursday morning, saw the matching at 146, but it did change to 140 for a few seconds, I felt something is not right. But then it moves back to 146, and then 147. I wanted to withdraw my q, but thought 145 is still quite safe. Last minute saw the big qs at 147 fully disappeared, and 146 also disappeared, immediately tried to withdraw, rejected, it was already done at 146. At opening, immediately sold down to 145, mine done. Went down a bit, I observed first, and it did move up a bit, should have sold higher looking at all these negative signs, again, hope it can move up, finally came down again, immediately I cut at 143. Have decided not to q before opening seeing too many fake buy qs b4 opening. Even if I will q, must know how to look at negative signs and withdraw quick enough. Since I am not so good yet to read signs, will not q at the moment b4 opening. For a new person like me, following our COO's advice of wait and see during the first 10 minutes of opening, should be safer. I think it is important to share this again for the benefit of new members here. Pls remember this. If anyone intends to match buy or sell in the morning after the counter had chiong yesterday, under the below kind of scenario, can match sell and cannot match buy....very risky. Also, better don't touch these kind of  counters when market just starts. 1) When volumn keeps increasing on the buy side with buy side volumn much bigger than sell side( buy side 3000 lots and sell side 1000 lots), and it doesn't moves up 1 pip, 2 pip and so on. Cannot buy and better sell. This happens to Centurion when match price is 49. 2) Minutes before market starts, the big buy  volumn at buy side withdraw OR withdraw and  drop 1-2 pip. Example now the  price is expected to match at 49. Minutes before it closed for any orders before market start, it drops to 485.  Cannot buy and better sell. This happen to Freightlinks when it nearly match at 147 but later drop 1 pip to  match at 146. Also happened to ISO Team when it nearly match at 45 but later drop 2 pips and match at 44. The above are very common and if you avoid this, it can save you some money. Good Luck! Huat ah!

If matching expected to be normal then just one click I can withdraw my sell order. x 1   x 0  Alert Admin	My personal view only.. Rule 3) , though my initial trading was based on this (Eg: 7% stop loss,etc..) but no longer valid for my current trading system.. Basically, 1) In any technical analysis stocks you want to trade, should always ensure that Fundamental Analysis is intact for the stock that you want to trade, be it short,mid or long term.. This will minimal the risk, although I won't say totally eliminate all risks. 2) Never trade using contra as any stocks need time to nurture, like a " nurturing a plant" .. It can be 1,2 to 4 weeks..but sell when the target price is hit and reap profits. Holding power is important.. ------> Have you ever experienced, when you sold using cut loss system, and it bounced back again after that? With the right combination of technical indicators,time frame to lock a position of a certain stock ( Each stock got different dates to lock in, that's why you see uptrend/downtrend..except those in-active,low volume stocks..) 3) Do not use all the technical indicators, but rather choose those that you comfortable with, at least 3 to 5.. and not more than that.  3) Emotion..another big topic.. 4) Many more..but can't finish in this page itself..
