The oil producing town of Ras Lanuf in Libya has seen some of the worst fighting in the last few days. Home  to a huge facility at the very heart of Libya’s massive oil and gas industry, the plant could become a new target. For now, opposition forces control this and virtually every other natural energy facility in the country. But as this conflict wears on, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi will need oil. He will have to try and take it by force or, as many fear, he could bomb oil and gas complexes to prevent anyone else from using them |

http://www.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne+News/World/Story/A1Story20110221-264699.html Al-Jazeera channels have been subject to jamming for weeks, with an increase since Friday. The building was " located in front of Salah al-Din hospital in an area of the same name, in Al-Khadra al-Hadhba district" it said, adding it made this conclusion from " accurate studies carried out by specialised companies." The pan-Arab television network has announced broadcasts on new frequencies from satellite operators Nilesat, Arabsat and Hot Bird from Europe to cope with the problem. It also accused Libyan authorities of blocking its www.aljazeera.net website throughout the country. |

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/07/us-libya-congress-idUSTRE7266H720110307 (Reuters) - Two Arab newspapers and al Jazeera television said Monday Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was looking for an agreement allowing him to step down, but there was no official confirmation of the reports. Al Jazeera said Gaddafi had proposed to Libyan rebels to hold a meeting of parliament to pave the way for him to step down with certain guarantees. It said Gaddafi made the proposal to the interim council, which speaks for mostly eastern areas controlled by his opponents. It quoted sources in the council as saying Gaddafi wanted guarantees of personal safety for him and his family and a pledge that they not be put on trial. |

I was thinking, Saudi king kakis and or his deputy prompted some good advise to him, after witnessing Middle East turmoil under current now creating havoc. Now parting US$37 billion for up lifting it own citizens, too sudden, too much and too soon or just a bit late. All B'cos been terrified been too rich and  doing too little  for the  poor. Unlike Singapore, we keep highlighting of our widering income gap between the richest and the poorest. So we can do it, still more can be done to allevate and up lift provety.

No use talking about politics, etc when everything in human's minds is all about getting more and more money.             This is the No.1 thing to talk about.  If this basic thing is ignored,                 it is no use to go on talking about 101 other things...  ![]() |

http://magharebia.com/cocoon/awi/xhtml1/en_GB/features/awi/features/2011/03/03/feature-01 Kadhafi claims control, loses Brega..?. The Libyan leader has many Tripoli residents scratching their heads. In Tripoli, while his planes were pounding fellow Libyans determined to end his rule, Kadhafi was defiant: " We will fight until the last man and woman in defence of Libya," Kadhafi said during his more than two-hour speech from the Rixos Al Nasr hotel in Tripoli. He also asked the United Nations to send a fact-finding committee to Libya to investigate the death toll, which Kadhafi said was no more than 150 people. Kadhafi also denied reports that he had stashed funds in foreign bank accounts. On Monday, the US Treasury Department froze $30 billion worth of assets belonging to Kadhafi and his government. " I don't have any balances. My balance is principles, values, my history and people rather than the rotten US dollar." He added that his pension was " 460 Libyan dinars" . ________________________________________________________________________________ Tripoli resident Salima Ali is tired of listening to Kadhafi talk. " Enough is enough! We don't want to see his picture, and God willing, he will be over with his third speech like Hosni Mubarak and Zine El Abidine Ben Ali," " His talk is full of lies, and the Libyans have broken the barrier of fear. His words don't mean anything to them rather, they will be added to his stock of lies," Ali said. Her husband, an academic at a Libyan university, said: " He's lost legitimacy. Even his supporters have decreased in numbers. If he hadn't brought in mercenaries, the Libyans would have put an end to his rule quickly." " Therefore, I support the National Council in Benghazi that demanded that the United Nations strike those whom they described as Kadhafi's mercenaries," |

Latest news (Yahoo) Libya: live report http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20110306/tts-libya-mideast-unrest-a9aa023.html  1201 GMT More in from the rebel-held town of Misrata, which has been under intense fire from pro-Kadhafi forces... " Kadhafi forces are shelling Misrata randomly," a rebel spokesman -- who can't be named for security reasons -- tells AFP. " They are using mortars and rockets. They are firing on protesters gathered at Midan Tahrir (Liberation Square) in the city centre and tanks are also shelling houses as well." 1133 GMT Victims continue to arrive at the hospital in Ras Lanuf, AFP's correspondent there reports. " We have two dead and 40 to 45 wounded," says Sami al-Saiti, a doctor at the hospital, adding that they are all Libyan rebels, except one French journalist who was hurt. Rebel forces have retreated from Bin Jawad, saying they were outgunned in the clashes, and told AFP they were unsure whether to press on to Sirte, Kadhafi's home town as planned. 1124 GMT An update is coming in on the situation in Bin Jawad, where earlier 15 were reported injured. That number has now risen to at least 30, medics tell AFP. Two people have also died following the clashes between Libyan rebels and Kadhafi supporters in the hamlet west of Ras Lanuf. 1102 GMT Tanks have shelled the centre of rebel-held Misrata, a resident of Libya's third biggest city tells AFP, warning of " carnage" if the international community did not intervene. " Tanks are shelling the centre of the city, near the radio headquarters. We are also hearing heavy automatic weapon fire," the resident says on condition of anonymity. Firing is clearly audible over the telephone. " The residents are not armed. If the international community doesn't intervene quickly, there will be carnage," the witness adds. 1058 GMT Britain's Defence Secretary Liam Fox has confirmed that a " small British diplomatic team" is in Benghazi amid reports rebels in eastern Libya are holding a British special forces unit and junior diplomat. " I can confirm that a small British diplomatic team is in Benghazi. We are in touch with them but it would be inappropriate for me to comment further on that for reasons I am quite sure you understand," Fox told BBC television. Earlier, The Sunday Times newspaper, reported that the Special Air Service (SAS) soldiers -- thought to be up to eight men -- were captured along with the diplomat they were escorting through the rebel-held east. |
