The Star, quoting Umno insiders, says the results showed that delegates also voted in those aligned to the new chiefs.
On the other hand, Rocky Bru says KJ managed to scape through because his detractors in Pemuda Umno were split between Khir Toyo and Mukhriz.
Significantly, the Son-in-Law went on to win despite being was a stern warning by the Umno Disciplinary Board for being found guilty of breaking election rules on March 17.
Mahathir loses...Earlier, Mahathir had openly denounced Khairy and Shahrizat as candidates unsuitable for new Umno. He now has to wait and see if Muhyiddin Yassin, his favourite candidate for Umno No. 2, can dash through the finishing line tomorrow.
It's now a known fact that Mahathir has lost Round One in the post-Abdullah Umno.
