Bought mine at $2.23, and then the price went down to $2.09 twice. If not for the EPL good news. Willl probably have to wait for a while. |

Like singaporegal, I also unloaded yesterday at 2.34. Quite happy with the outcome of my first forey based strictly on TA.......but it was abit nerve racking at times. Price moved from about 2.10 at the begining of the week to 2.19 on Thur in anticipation of the EPL announcement and then to 2.36 (peak) yesterday after the announcement. This represents a 12% jump in 5 trading days and almost 8% after the news was out. Based on the principle of 'SELL ON NEWS', I unloaded the stock when the uptrend was getting abit tired at about 2.35. |

Maintaining NEUTRAL rating, with a CY07 target price of S$3.10. The above news is a setback for SingTel. At our target, upside is in line with our estimated upside for the market. Our target is based on rounding down our sum-of-the-parts valuation of S$3.14. We believe SingTel?s ability to outperform will be capped by the lack of catalysts as well as competition in Australia. Also, SingTel is trading at the upper-end of its 12-month forward P/E range of 10-13x. |

Bid price for securing EPL content English Premier League (EPL) matches are keenly watched and followed in Singapore. It is believed that securing exclusive broadcast rights for EPL would be a competitive advantage for pay-TV operators and should result in increased subscription to their pay-TV services. There were three known contenders for the Singapore rights - StarHub, ESPN StarSports (ESS) and firsttimer SingTel- for EPL matches from Aug 2007 to May 2010. Out of Starhub?s cable TV customer base of 478K households, it is estimated that about 70% subscribe to sports channels. Currently Starhub charges S$15 per month for subscription to sports channels, that translates to revenue of about S$180m for 3 years. Plus there is additional income from advertising revenue also. As content cost constitute 40%-50% of revenue, we think that S$150-S$200m will not be a too high a price for Starhub to thwart SingTel?s IPTV launch. Some of the increased costs can also be passed on to the consumers in the form of increased subscription fee. This can also be substantiated from what Hong Kong's PCCW is said to have paid about HK$1.56 billion (S$312 million) for exclusive EPL rights for a market which is more than double the size of Singapore. |

DBS Vickers maintain BUY for 12 months target at $2.65 (from previous $2.95 target). Moreover, it is overwhelmed by today EPL news. Correction may be expected. But then market is not predictable, just like SingTel, though it was settled around $2.4x only few weeks back, now it is $2.9x, probably TA also can predict this surge in price sometimes. For me, get out first, and assess it worths to re-invest it again... |

I believe Starhub has more potential to go up north even more. But I sold it off at 2.35 today because I'm going on holiday and don't wish to worry about my stocks. :) |
