something wrong with this headline? STI @ 5.5 year high..
but i don't see a broad based rise in stocks.. the rise is only narrowed to few stocks..
have  all stocks  reached their 2007-2008 high? i don't think so..

gaoxian had an outstanding balance sheet and many were duped into their doctored accounting .. no one saw it coming unifibre had holdings of poh lian which is under liquidation, even tho they announce RTO listing from Sinar Mas.. very unfortunate.. For 2013 i've made a new approach to stock investing, after  receiving guidance from a very reputable & experienced fund manager in Australia. He has taught me the basics of stock investing, which is to find value companies trading below their worth.

VARD – MER targets $1.82 Macquarie’s VARD Holdings warrants CodeNameTypeExpiryExercise Price S5LWVardHldgsMBeCW131202 Call2-Dec-131.20 VARD rallied another 0.9% yesterday, outperforming the STI. The 0.9% gain came right after a 5.7% increase on Wednesday. The stock’s stellar performance came on the back of VARD’s earnings result which was announced after market on Tuesday. On the same day, Macquarie Equities Research (MER) released a research report with a ‘Outperform’ recommendation and a 12-month price target of $1.82. Some excerpts from the research report are shown below. VARD’s 1Q13 profit of NOK188mn (-30% YoY) came in 5% below MER’s estimates due to slightly lower revenue booking on some vessels. More importantly, the value of new orders disclosed in the call surprised one and all, as the street had ignored the large and complex nature of new vessels. |

Hong Fok Q1 profit more than doubles to S$10.1m
By
Property developer Hong Fok Corporation's first-quarter profit more than doubled to S$10.1 million from S$3.7 million a year ago, on the back of a surge in revenues. Revenue for the three months ended March 31 also more than doubled to S$57.2 million from S$25.3 million a year ago. The company attributed the higher revenue to the recognition of sales of residential units at the Concourse Skyline, the condominium component of the mixed-use development The Concourse. However, cost of sales increased to S$35 million from S$11.1 million a year ago |

YONGNAM POSTS S$11.5 MILLION NET PROFIT IN 1QFY2013 -                                  Revenue up 21.8% to S$81.9 million on increased contribution from Structural Steelworks projects in Singapore and Malaysia -                                  Healthy gross profit margin of 23.8% -                                  Order book of S$324.0 million as at March 31, 2013 Financial Highlights:   1QFY20131QFY2012% Change Revenue (S$’m) 81.967.321.8 Gross Profit (S$’m) 19.519.7(1.1) Profit  before tax (S$’m) 12.712.70.3 Net profit attributable to shareholders (S$’m) 11.511.40.8 EPS (Basic)(Singapore cent) (1) 0.910.91- NAV per share (Singapore cents)(2) 26.5225.603.6   Singapore, May 15, 2013 – Yongnam Holdings Limited (“Yongnam” or the “Group”), a well-established structural steel contractor and specialist civil engineering solutions provider, today reported a net profit of S$11.5 million for the three months ended March 31, 2013 (“1QFY2013”). This was achieved on the back of a 21.8% increase in revenue to S$81.9 million, compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year (“1QFY2012”).    Project demand is expected to continue in the year, as Yongnam pursues approximately S$1.3 billion worth of new infrastructural and commercial projects in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, Indonesia and the Middle East, many of which, if secured, are expected to come on-stream in the second half of FY2013. These pipeline projects are expected to bolster Yongnam’s growing order book, which stood at a healthy S$324.0 million at the end of March. In order to develop new and recurring revenue streams, the Group has recently announced plans to leverage on its core competencies and strong track record to diversify into infrastructural development on a build, operate and transfer basis.  In this regard, following the prequalification by the Myanmar Department of Civil Aviation (“DCA”) in February, Yongnam and its consortium partners, Changi Airport Planners and Engineers and JGC Corporation, have tendered for its first project, in April, for the right to expand, operate and maintain the existing Yangon International Airport and its facilities, on the basis of a public-private partnership agreement for a 30-year concession period. Together with the same consortium partners, Yongnam is currently working on another tender in Myanmar, for the design, construction and management of the new Hanthawaddy International Airport. |
