US markets started the week mixed after last Friday’s rally.

Credit rating agency S& P’s upgrade of US credit rating

outlook to stable from negative resulted in little reaction

to markets as it was seen as largely expected. 10-yr bond

yields crept higher to c.2.21%. Investors await Chinese

investors’ reaction after China posted several weakerthan-

expected economic data over the weekend and were

closed yesterday for a public holiday. The SSEC ended at

2210 last week, 60pts above the important 2150 support.

For the STI, yesterday’s rise was capped below the

immediate resistance at 3225. Nevertheless, valuation that

is becoming attractive should underpin market as the

index now trades comfortably below the 13.9x (average)

12-mth forward PE level at 3287.

Lian Beng Group

Ready For A Record Breaking Year

Bright outlook next year upgrade to BUY. We caught up with Lian Beng’s management for updates on ongoing construction and property launches, and are now convinced that FY5/14 will be a record breaking year with earnings surpassing its 2012 peak of SGD51.4m. We are also positive that Lian Beng will be able to maintain its dividend payout of 2ct/share payable in the next quarter. We have revised our FY5/14 and FY5/15 estimates by 8-11%, and applied a higher multiple on its construction earnings. Upgrade to BUY with a revised TP of SGD0.68, indicating upside of 30.8%.

Construction orderbook at SGD1.2b.
The recent Poh Lian construction scandal offered Lian Beng the opportunity to take-over the Goodwood Residence construction contract, which is scheduled for completion in October 2013. Lian Beng’s orderbook currently stands at SGD1.2b including Dakota Crescent and Laurels, which if completed on schedule by end 2013, will free up manpower for further construction jobs. Since the start of 2013, Lian Beng has secured 7 private sector contracts valued at SGD739m.

New launches selling like hot cakes!
King Albert Park, Hong Leong Gardens, and Hougang Plaza were launched year to date. Hougang Plaza, now The Midtown and The Midtown Residences, has achieved an average 62% take-up rate. We expect Lian Beng to begin construction at end 2013 resulting in increased contribution in the 2nd half of FY5/14. Seletar Green is expected to be launched the next quarter.

Well diversified with proven execution strength.
At current levels, Lian Beng is trading at 3.1x FY14F P/E, versus peers at between 5x and 7x P/E. We peg Lian Beng construction earnings at 6x, on par with its construction peers. We like Lian Beng for (i) strong orderbook of SGD1.2b comprising of higher margin private sector projects, (ii) latest property launches’ with strong sell-through rates and (iii) a healthy buildup in recurrent income. We upgrade to BUY with a TP of SGD0.68. Lian Beng Group– Summary Earnings Table

DBS

STI – Correction ended at 3184, expect a rebound to

3300 with immediate resistance at 3225. Defensive, yield

and interest rate sensitive index component stocks to

lead rebound

resistance at $1.05 and eventual downside risk towards

$0.80

We believe that STI’s correction that started from May 22 has

ended at 3184 last Friday after US’s May job data alleviate

concerns about an imminent cut back in FED stimulus. At the

same time, STI’s forward PE valuation has now fallen below

the 13.9x (average) 12-mth forward PE level at c.3287 and is

a ‘mere’ 80pts away from touching the 13.1x (-0.5SD) 12-

mth forward PE level at c.3100, which makes local blue chips

attractive. . The rebound has the potential to reach about

3300 eventually with immediate resistance at 3225.

Defensive, yield and interest rate sensitive stocks that rocked

the STI lower in the past 2-3 weeks are likely to lead the index

rebound. SingTel, OCBC, DBS, UOB, Jardine Matheson, HK

Land, Capitaland and GLP are the 8 component stocks that

each had at least a 10pt negative impact on the STI in the

current sell-down.

[SINGAPORE] Water companies in Singapore are attracting big-name investors as they profit from exporting their expertise to China, which plans to spend US$850 billion over the next decade to improve its scarce and polluted water supplies.

Singapore is a hub for water technology because of its own concerns about water security. With few domestic freshwater resources of its own, the city-state has been trying to reduce its reliance on imports from neighbouring Malaysia, where politicians have in the past threatened to turn off the taps.

Since 2006, the number of companies in Singapore's water sector has doubled to about 100 and S$470 million (US$371.2 million) has been committed to fund water research, government data shows.

Over the same period, Singapore-based water companies secured more than 100 international projects worth close to S$9 billion.
