Johor eyes honeymooners

JOHOR BARU

Chief Minister Abdul Ghani Othman said that the state’s attractive locations could draw couples wanting to hold their weddings or honeymoons there,

“We need to learn from Bali, Hawaii and Singapore on how to attract these couples and honeymooners to come here,” he said, according to a speech read out at the launch of the Wedding and Beauty Fair in Johor Baru.

Mr Abdul Ghani also said that couples could hold “green” weddings at Johor’s parks and gardens,

He also called for good marketing strategies to lure tourists and suggested that Tourism Malaysia could promote Johor as a wedding destination.

Meanwhile, industry sources have told

International consulting firms will be appointed to study and evaluate various proposals for the rail system, the sources

said.

The high-speed rail system, which uses magnetic levitation technology, would boast trains which can reach speeds of up to 350kmh in two minutes.

The project is part of the Economic Transformation Programme that was announced by Prime Minister Najib Razak last month.— Johor has set its sights on becoming the next international honeymoon destination after Bali, Hawaii and Singapore, with its beaches on Desaru and the Mersing islands as its biggest draw.Bernama news agency reported.Bernama reported. The Star newspaper that a proposal for a high-speed train from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore will soon be submitted to the government.

PM Najib confirms 9 investment projects, says more to come

KUALA LUMPUR

“This shows that the ETP is already showing results,” Prime Minister Najib Razak said when launching the ETP roadmap.

“We will be announcing more confirmed investments in coming months.”

Mr Najib said the government was also currently negotiating with parties interested in 53 other projects under the ETP.

He added that, in the spirit of transparency, the ETP roadmap will be made available to the public online, so they can track the latest contracts awarded by the government.

“We are proving the sceptics wrong. The early wins show that by focusing on action and not unproductive talk, debates and arguments, results will flow,” Mr Najib said.

Among the nine confirmed projects are the setting up of a RM214 million wafer fabrication plant by German-based LFoundry in the Kulim Hi-Tech Park and construction of a RM1.2 billion six-star hotel and residence in KL Central by St Regis. — The Najib administration yesterday announced that it has signed agreements worth over RM30 billion ($12.5 billion) with nine companies to kick-start its ambitious US$450 billion ($581 billion) Economic Transformation Project (ETP).AGENCIES

When type O blood is barrier to having baby

DENVER

The study is the first to suggest that a woman’s blood group could influence her chances of getting pregnant.

The lead author, Dr Edward Nejat, of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, said his findings were based on women having fertility treatment at the Yale University IVF programme and the Montefiore Institute in New York.

He is presenting his findings today at the annual American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) conference in Denver.

The survey of 560 women, whose average age was just under 35, found that those with the type O blood appeared to have a lower egg count and poorer egg quality than others.

By contrast, those with type A blood seemed to have more and better quality eggs.

Dr Nejat said: “Those with type O blood were twice as likely to have an FSH level over 10 than those with blood types other than O. We found that women with the A blood group gene were protected from this effect.”

Fertility experts regard a high “follicle stimulating hormone” (FSH) level as a key indicator of having a low egg count.

FSH is produced by the body to stimulate the follicles in the ovaries that produce eggs. As a woman’s ovaries run out of eggs in her 30s and 40s, production has to be stepped up to encourage more eggs.

The study also found that people with blood group A carry the A antigen, a protein on the cell surface, that is absent in people with O type.

These findings could lead to women with type O blood being advised to try for a baby earlier but experts said more research was needed before such a step was taken.— Women with type O blood could have more trouble conceiving as they age, an American survey claims.

Hmm.. rite now all eyes & my monies solely on Gensp which makes me quite jittery over its Q3 to be honest. I've thought of the good & the bad, and i dun wish to be blinded by sheer optimism.

*touch wood* but right now i dun hav an exit plan in the event of worse case/ unfavorable scenario leh. I need to plan for Plan B lo simply becos my entry prx is quite high at 2.01.

BT, can u pls kindly advice mi how to avoid being caught in a massive sell down (like i did before at 1.8x) if a stock gaps down at opening below my stop price? to adjust it to sell at market is being pple's lunch right?  ;(
