SingTel sent in its expression of interest for a phone license in the nation last month and is awaiting further details on the bidding process and terms of the permit, Chief Executive Officer Chua Sock Koong said in a Bloomberg Television interview with Haslinda Amin yesterday.

“Looking at the experience in other emerging markets, the mobile solution appears to be a more cost effective, a faster solution to provide communications infrastructure to the masses, particularly in the rural areas, very quickly,” she said. “While the market potential is very attractive, we would need to understand what the terms of the license issuance would be.”

SingTel, which owns stakes in the biggest mobile-phone companies in Asian emerging markets including Thailand, Indonesia and India, is seeking a foothold in a nation where only 9 percent of the country’s 64 million people have handsets.

One thing I am sure is whoever's bid for n success, will have to contribute a lot of commitment, experience n cash to fund their huge potential project.
Oni telco big enuff to spend a lot of money is Singtel n institutional fund like JP Morgan can go for this long long road to success.
Bo short cut to prosperity.

It most recently move. CarrierNet has bot n move to new Ubi office....

personally i dont think will go up that much compare to singhaiyi if it does.. average investors are lured into singhaiyi 'cos of the name " bush" .. unless big names like maybe Tamesek becomes a shareholder, then will chiong like mad.. it's not like singtel become a shareholder or something.. just a big successful business dealing with singtel..

Our President TT is there to encourage big firm like Singtel to venture there, there is two mobile license expecting to be award by Myanmar. Naypyidaw will greatly benefits linking it businesses from Indian to far east, to Australia, to china n U.S and even to Africa.
I am betting on Singtel then on Yoma. I chosen CarrierNet, together to help me carry it beyond 5c. Just sharing my that.

Singtel with CarrierNet together will form strong partnership to venture into new n last SEA frontier... Myanmar. Singtel got well chain of range of products to offer, while CarrierNet is a hardware communication expert. Both will synchronize well to bid n submit its pre-qualification for building Myanmar telphone communication industries.
