Day to day (T+3 and or whatever T+5  or CFD)  trading is for speculation, punting and is either a win (gain), if not, someone losses. This are for short and immediate speculation ONLY.

I'm  betting on SingTel (BBs to win 1 of 2 telco license). I'm in for singtel to win (Think so), vested abit in CarrierNet  to keep my interest here. I don go everyday reading on stk prices, it up and down as stk trading prices  will never travel in a straight/linear line.

General guide line  - Oni in for a long long time B4 telco's can see profit

A sign of things to come....coming for CarrierNet (a smaller player and a  telco expert in building hardware infrastructure), real, very real potential for RTO  and is  about to rename as polaris Ltd.

An Indo listed Telco firm - Trikomsel which is oso backup  by JP Morgan). As a  JP Morgan representive  for CarrierNet Director, not for nothing. It most recently move, bot n moved to new Ubi office.

Do note - Agreement btw Singtel and Al Noor Int'l to distribute Singtel’s satellite phones (Inmarsat), SingTel Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) and satellite broadcasting bandwidth services in Myanmar. Al Noor Int'l is one of the largest importer of mobile phones in Myanmar.

FYI  Only - SingTel sent in its expression of interest for a phone license in the nation last mth and is awaiting further details on the bidding process and terms of the permit, C.E.O, Ms  Chua Sock Koong said in a Bloomberg Television interview with Haslinda Amin.

“Looking at experience in other emerging mkts, mobile solution appears to be a more cost effective, a faster solution to provide communications infrastructure to the masses, particularly in rural areas, very quickly,” she said. “While mkt potential is very attractive, we would need to understand what the terms of the license issuance would be.”

SingTel, which owns stakes in the biggest mobile-phone companies in Asian emerging markets including Thailand, Indonesia and India, is seeking a foothold in a nation where only 9 percent of the country’s 64 million people have handsets.

Then let those General led to believe in G.Soros - Quantum Fund, Goldman Sachs,  Digicel and even Vodafone.

Soon Singtel will becoming a house hold name in Myanmar. Link India on the West, South to Africa and Australia  and  to China on the East and beyond to U.S.

To be honest, I believe  the  competition is between  Digicel (along with Quantum and Yoma), Vodafone and last but not least, Singtel. The consortium led by Quantum seems highly viable due to the following factors.

1) George Soros has been actively pursuing philanthropic  work in Myanmar and has close ties with the ruling government and President Thein Sein. While his altruism should be lauded,  one can't be help but wonder if there is more than meets the eye. Besides, a big-name presence in the consortium  will boost its credibility and attractiveness to foreign investors.

Refer to: http://blogs.wsj.com/searealtime/2011/12/30/george-soros-heads-to-myanmar/

2) Digicel is easily one of the leading telecom service providers in developing countries. With its expertise in delivering low-cost and satisfactory services to consumers, it definitely gives the consortium a technical advantage over its rivals.

3) Yoma is easily one of the biggest conglomerates in Myanmar right now. Its CEO has connections throughout the nation, and with bureaucracy being one of the most stifling of problems involved in such deals, Yoma, with its know-how and experience with doing business in the country can help to steer the consortium to eventual success in its bid to kickstart the telecomms industry in Myanmar.

http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/china-bird-flu-virus-found-more-markets-shanghai-031011386.html

Shanghai (Reuters) - Chinese authorities have found MORE  traces of a new bird flu virus that has killed six people in more areas in Shanghai, after authorities slaughtered over 20,000 birds at a large poultry market in the city.

State-run Xinhua news agency said samples of the H7N9 virus were found at two markets selling agricultural products in the Minhang district of Shanghai, a city of 23 million people.

The markets were near the Huhuai live poultry market where infected pigeons were discovered earlier in the week and where the culling was carried out.

The new strain of bird flu has infected 16 people in China, all in the east of the country. Six people have died, and the outbreak has spread concern overseas and sparked a sell-off in airline shares in Europe and Hong Kong.
