rasing of wages? ermmm its actually up to e employers right?even if government say i agree to minimun wages senario how many will actually agree? den what about hdb new flats at 250k? ermmm i think no longer this price lor. new flats are at a discount of 10 -20 perfect of e resold flat value(in e MAH own mouth) so if resold keeps going up so will new flats. I understand buliding cost went up etc. if wanna do minimun wages den e people building e hdbs will be paid more den who will get it in e end? Im not saying devaluation of e whole of hdbs because it frankly doesn't make sense n in e end singaporeans will complaint more cause believe me we will not be e one to benefit.

3 to 5 years waiting for a unit that is a very long time. n when u get e unit what happen?U walk in n u start hearing mickey mouse theme song playing. 30 years to pay off one hdb flat..its a long time. I repeat HDB is not an asset unless u rent it out(which mean u r either lucky enough to have nice parents to allow u to squeeze in with them.) but we are paying asset pricing for it. Government is misleading the people. dun forget hdb only 99 years hor. not freehold okie. 750 k 800k resale of a hdb flat is not uncommon. I dun need anything i just want MAH to step down n begone haha he cannot make it go anywhere f anything up.

What I'm saying is this is not the time to discuss about property issue. Because of 80%!

I also said gradual increase of  property prices, and  raising the earnings of average Singaporean is more important then bringing down the whole property market. And also having a look at retirement plannings. Especially those of Australia ones, will put the opposition is a better position rather then picking on the wrong issue to argue about.

but if u r of retirement age n ur children are unlucky enough to be one of the new couple u know what is likely to happen? they will get married n stay with u. if u have 2 kids stayin in a 5 room flat. its okie if they do not have kids but once they started to start their own family....u r talking about 3 families staying under one roof. sure u might not mind it...since we asians are used to it... but its ridiculous. take my neighbour for example. she has two sons n a daughter. sons are married n they each have a child. guessed what all living under e same roof. plus they have a maid also. hence in total 7 adults n 2 small child living in a 4 bedroom senario....sometimes one of them have to go to their auntie place to stay to ease e tension. u like

Perhaps if one is a HDB dweller and does not intend to upgrade further and hapily retiring as in the below mentioned example, I can understand your view. However, what I am stating if from a different prespective. Singapore is not made of that one pool of voters in retirement mode.

Besides, if everything and everyone is fine and dandy and happy with property prices skyrocketing, then why would the gahmen be so busy with property cooling measures, unless it's all gibberish talk by the gahmen and to serve what purpose?

As far as elections is concerned... I believe HDB prices are just one of the issues tha's griped this nation. I think Singaporeans also do not wish to be treated like horses working a mill with a carrot dangled in front of them every 4 years.. working the mill to generate and fatten the owners while the horse gets mere nibbles.

It is known that in Singaporeans case, whats given to them 5% (the blardi carrot!) is taken back 10% over time ..

My two cents worth Smiley

You don't understand what I am talking about. I am speaking from a HDB flats owner voter point of view.

80% of the voters stays in HDB now. MBT ward is a matured estate with limited new flats. Do you think residence here wants the value of their flats to come down? Yes, young new couples will want it to come down so that they can hop on the train, but once they are on, do you think they will still hope the prices of their flats to come down further?

The election has always been about the HDB. Queing of new flats, upgradings of old flats, infrastructures near to the flats.....Think about it, why not ask the opposition ward members to lead by selling their own flats at a lost to set an example? There are many things to talk about, why fight a losing battle by picking  on  an issue which is a double edge sword?

but its a laibility not an asset. beside so what if hdb goes up ?unless u r one of e wealthy have money to buy private ...u most likely can't upgrade n can only downgrade .it wont become a source of income for u unless u rent it out.

My thoughts for this round's election is:-

NOBODY LIKES TO SEE THE PRICE OF THEIR HDB FLATS GOES DOWN!

LAULAN DUHHHH hahahaha good post vote wisely n correctly.

Laulan      ( Date: 27-Apr-2011 11:16) Posted:

After May or after the election, whichever the outcome, the market will spring forth and a new era of bullishness will prevail.

Reasons:

If PAP wins all, then the status quo will be what we used to be, a resounding economy with the rich getting richer with their wealth creation, so we and the many poor get the crumbs that drop down for us. We will still play the stock market with a bullish outlook and the country economy remains healthy.

If PAP lose some seats, no harm.   They will be still in government and we will still play the market with a bullish outlook as they will as usual often issue statistics to show our GDP is growing and the country is healthy and the people are comfortable.

If PAP lose more seats than they expected, no harm if they still hold the first key to our country's treasures. We will still play the stock market with a bullish outlook since observers will believe in our political democracy of choice and continue to invest in Singapore.

If the oppositions gain 43 percent of seats in parliament, many people might feel a sense of relief as though they have shrugged off a burden from their shoulders felt carried for too long of strict obeyance in deemed unpopular policies thrusted upon them. Then at least they could hear more reasons why certain policies were set and debated by many who are not answerable to the PAP.   The stock market will still be there, and we will still play it with a bullish outlook.

When you go to the polls, don't forget to cast your vote properly and wisely.   If you have never voted before, don't forget you have to CROSS, i.e. put a " X" on the box provided to select the party of your choice. Do not use a tick, because it will become a spoilt vote. If your vote is spoilt, your efforts will be in vain. Therefore vote carefully.   After the election, come back to play the stock market with a bullish outlook.

Cheers.

I am developing more respect for Mr.Isolator.

He called a sell on GAR and a buy on MIDAS previously. Target I think for Midas was 0.84 and target for GAR, 0.66. In both positions, he has since reversed his calls. But with good reason.

For Midas, he closed his position at (I believe)  0.82 and almost immediately, it  fell two cents that day.  With GAR, when it was 0.70 plus, he called a  short on this. It took a long time but  eventually it fell to yesterday's low of 0.66.

Don't know what these two will do today but my admiration is based on one fundamental principle in trading. NEVER LOVE OR HATE A COUNTER. There is such a thing as over-priced or under-priced for all stocks. Except for companies with bad business models (i.e. Raffles Education,  Healthway, etc.) all other counters will offer opportunities to buy into at some point. Even AIA, as recent as one year ago there were fears of  insolvencies, is now the darling of Asia.

I am still long on GAR as I firmly believe this counter will hit $1.00 but it was not wrong for Isolater to sell and take profit. And now at his targetted price, to call a buy. Just don t know why he is sharing his strategy so openly. One would think that the smart play would be to play quietly.... Whatever, well-done Mr.Isolator.

Our stock market is becoming more and more unchallenging.   We are learning to be more and more " kiasu" to the extent that every buyer will have this stance of " I would not buy from you at your price, sell to me at my price, please." and every seller will have the stance of " I would not be selling to you at your price, buy from me at my price, leh." So this become a deadheat, a roadblock, impotent market.   Cannot stand, falling down always... Get a life, go mate, go!!.
