still tanking, not done yet. a doji appears to be forming tho. if it doesn't hold, jackjames,  you get your wish. it's 5, then 4.3.

conversely if this doji holds, it's 6.15 as your resistance.

fyi only, caveat emptor. cheers.

*bemused* hey farmer, it's ok. in the market, one of the most impt thing to do is to cut out the white noise. trade whichever way works, according to your own personality. that's all, really. if you talk about books and systems, there are thousands out there, and all will claim to be better than the rest (rem what i said about singaporeanness of onesupmanship... :P) but really. just keep open-minded, and slowly develop one's own style. that's all. if feel the need to change, then adapt accordingly. that's evolution. :)

o/w, we are all entitled to our own opinions. or as Voltaire says, "I may not agree with what you say, but I shall defend to my death your right to say it!"

cheers. :)

tech rebound likely soon. key factors: HSI opening, dow tonight. williams is way oversold already and busd is starting to show buys. don't jump first tho, nd to watch the two key factors. play it fast and furious. for sgx, cosco and sti. and long term is downtrend, so be careful; it's a bounce, not a real uptrend.

ahaha kid, prob only a dang elf wld remember stuff like this, since elves aren't ever quite human anyway.

and yep, cashiertan, manikam etc are right: what's done is done. learn from it, rectify it, move on. No regrets, no self pity, no self victimisation. One's always responsible for one's choices. So when push comes to shove, bite the bullet, learn the lesson, make the change. That's what differentiates a man from a boy.

altho, ahahah, perhaps a fault of being feminine, but you always wanna cheer the fallen/underdogs on. so:

go jasonfaxingliu! you can do it! go go go! Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

everyone else, my elfin apologies, do excuse my indulgence. Smiley

ya know, sweethearts, in all this singaporeanness of wanting money and getting caught in material desires and a general state of discontent, has anyone ever stopped to think that all this is totally unnecessary?

when i was 21, i was tanned, slim, i had long hair that was streaked blond; in love with the world, and the world, with me. You think in fire then, in poetry; you are grassfire on the mountains, you think anything is possible.

Only to grow up, to what? Riding cattle class every morning on the packed trains to work, to the bergen belsen of monotony, of compromises, of making do, politicking for bit crumbs of stale pies, half lives and half loves, shadows of selves, shadows of true life. Trapped in all these material desires, the ashes that qualify as maturity. Never once daring to follow your heart. Man was born of fire. Existence is ash but shouldn't life be pure fire?

Shouldn't life be the hunger to live. i may be young yet (perhaps that's why i still don't know much and insist on being an idealist; or perhaps it is the fault of being one who thinks only in poetry), but i've seen things and known things. I've backpacked in laos, cambodia, indonesia, north thailand, the ghettos of the U.S.A, that so-called richest of all countries. In all of these you see the poorest of the poor, families who will sell their daughters as prostitutes and cheer the first 'sale', because they have never known any other lives. Children who will scrabble for the food we rich tourists throw away because it is 'unfit to be eaten'. I know a young girl, of creole indian and scottish blood, who's so beautiful; she has three diseases that is slowly killing her like lupus, and her twin sister is dying as well, asleep fifteen hours a day. Slow wasting death. Grew up below the poverty line with alcohol and violence. but she's so beautiful. her motto in life? live pyro.

Because man was born of fire. so why are we who are healthy, with so much given, living lesser lives? Lives of compromise, of 'maturity'--which is in fact a synonym for resignation and making do; which in fact is considering too much and thinking too much, hence getting caught in indecision and fears.

When all one needs to do to live is to follow one's heart.

As was said in The Little Prince, "It is only with the heart that one sees rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

Do we make mistakes? of course, we are human. What remains then is the courage to face up to one's errors, and to accept it, and move on. For those who are 'safe', not to judge, or sneer at others, or onesupmanship and such shallow competitions of 'i'm better, nyah nyah nyah', that you see all over this country.

In the end what makes life is courage, and the faith of conviction.

jasonfaxingliu. you've been in this dilemma for the past two months. Question well the depths and edges of your strength; what is it that shapes you as a man, what you can bear to do, what is it that needs to be done. listen to your heart. You know the answer already.

And then, smile. Because life is fire. Because despite all these trials and the petty sorrows, this is only money, it is not life and death. Because life, above all, is beautiful, and you should never once believe otherwise.

cheers!

hullo, i do a lot of trading, so if i may clarify some of the stuff here?

what you guys are talking about is known as amalgamation: if you're talking online trades, that is an option that you can click, so that you are charged only ONE commission for all the trades on that counter for the day. rather than say, 2 commissions for 2 trades on the same counter. at least, that's with my iocbc acct. not sure abt the rest, but there shd be something similar.

if it's a phone broker, you'll need to ask him for the same thing: to charge all trades for the day under the same fee. Take note not all brokers will do so tho (hey, it's their ricebowl): depends entirely on your relationship with your broker.

yeps, brokerage fees are negotiable. read the fine print below your brochures. it may not be minimum charge; sometimes it's even nothing. again, depends on what you can negotiate with your broker. but really, it works only if you are a big trader or know someone. for most retailers, full rates apply.

hey asleep, apologies for the belated reply; i didn't see this thread til the new posts came up.

you wanna comment on et's charts, or you want me to comment on them? still holding onto the counter personally. it's a value stock: one of the last few on the local market. turn around company, NAV is 20c. If you see their recent AR, most of the losses was due to one write-off; if not, the company is actually making already. They've been lidding the stock tho. technically appears to be down, but the support is at 11.5c. Look at friday's charts: someone swept up 1000 plus lots at 11.5. they're distinctly accumulating the stock, and taking adv of current sentiments to do so.

I do not seriously believe it'll go down below 9.5. Am vested in this one, the value way (as opposed to trading): ie, i'm just gonna sit in it for the next year or whenever it hits NAV value or whatever.

and ahahahhaa, elfie is halfway between musicwhiz and scotty! i've gotten my year end bonus, but am unfortunately stuck in some counters. Not particularly worried tho. easttech is one of them; the other two do have a lot of potential, as livermore said, despite current volatility. Plus, i'm not in fully yet, either. Got the luxury of affording deep falls and can still shore up. Am in fact waiting for them to fall. Learnt my lesson aft august. hahaha.  Oh, and i'm in a bit of gold as a hedge. let's see how it goes.

eh my dear boy, 3.48 was sheer mad panic of aug 17th. dun forget it closed 3.9 immediately after. for that scenario to happen, it means sti downs to 2800-2900 levels. altho, now that we're at the nov low, a more realistic estimate wld be the aug 31-sept 9 period lah. so between 4.94-5.05 or so first. that was why i had said below 5 is a possibility.

anw, no pt speculating. lets just see how this baby goes. targets are artificial; trends are real. cheers!

lol. jackjames, below 5 is always a possibility, just as how everything in the market is a possibility. mediacraze, my tech reading concurs with yours. let's see how it goes.

caillou, relax lah. yes, cosco can hit above 7 again It's just a matter of time. Beijing Olympics is a definite region; the qn is if the jan rally (assuming it comes) can make it go up.

Remember that in the market (lets not even kid ourselves), fundamentals count for nothing. markets move on momentum: ie, what people are feeling, what they want to buy or sell. That is what moves the price of a stock. Not its fundamentals, which are related to the company. Differentiate btwn a company and its stock price. Fundamentals have got to be the greatest lie of the stock market; if you can read charts, or are with the BBs, you'll know, it's entirely a manipulated game/place.

Look where your analysts come from: all the banking and brokerage houses. You really believe they're fair and objective? When someone wants to sell, another person has to buy. How do you make others buy? by "talking up" the stock, in the market parlance. Take a look at all the analysts calls of the past years: how many of them are accurate? Let the facts speak for themselves.

The only time when fundamentals work, is when you're a true blue value investor: ie, buy below NAV, sit for years, and wait for the traders to play and pick it up. which cosco is not, cos cosco is a growth stock, not a value stock. ie, fast play and high volatility to be expected.

just relax and ride it out. once a certain pt is reached where it's too low to cut loss, one rides it out and averages down at bottom, then cut when it rises. Follow the trend above all. Take heart! :)

5.75 is the crucial support. thereaft, 5.2. be careful, not done downing yet.

abt 60c more down is a reasonable estimate, going by current conditions.

patience. wait for the lines to cross. hope the 5.75 holds. BBs distributing for days on this one alr.

yeps sporeguy, will 'relocate'. lol.

in brief for some of the babies i'm watching: still distributing on yanlord, sgx and cosco. nd to be careful on cosco: 5.75 critical pt. large distribution for days. something going on. caveat emptor.

hey sporeguy, no worries; tmrw likely to down further. my estimate is a gap down on opening and a further drop of ~6-10c from opening px, based on previous patterns. be careful to watch the busd. market depth is very thin, so just one panicked throw can cause chaos. just fyi ah... i'm not vested.

cashiertan, this is likely the down we were talking abt earlier? lets see if 3400 will hold.
