Europe Hits China with Five-year Tariff on Aluminium Car Wheels

The European Union imposed a five-year tariff on aluminium car wheels from China to help German, French, Italian and other EU producers compete against cheaper imports, threat- ening cost rises for automakers.

The 22.3 per cent duty punishes Chinese exporters, including YHI Manufacturing (Shanghai) Co and Zhejiang Wanfeng Auto Wheel Co, for selling the wheels in the 27-nation EU below cost, a practice known as dumping. Car manufacturers, includ- ing Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, the world’s biggest maker of luxury autos, and Renault SA use the wheels.

European aluminium-wheel producers suffered “material injury” as a result of dumped imports from China, the EU said in a decision Monday in Luxembourg. The five-year levy is higher than a provisional duty of 20.6 per cent introduced in May and will take effect after publication in the EU Official Journal by November 11.

Chinese exporters doubled their combined share of the EU market for aluminium wheels to 12.4 per cent in the 12 months through June 2009 compared with 2006, according to the bloc.

The EU said the benefits of the anti-dumping duty for Euro- pean aluminium-wheel producers outweigh the disadvantages for carmakers. With aluminium road wheels representing about 1 per cent of the cost of a car, automakers face a maxi- mum cost increase of 0.22 per cent, according to the bloc.

In a separate decision Monday, the EU imposed five-year anti-dumping duties as high as 53.2 per cent against China on a chemical used in the construction, metals and food indus- tries. The levy on sodium gluconate aims to curb import com- petition for EU producers, including a French unit of Switzerland’s Jungbunzlauer AG and an Italian subsidiary of France’s Roquette Freres.

IPO usually stands for "It's Probably Over-priced". And for a good reason too. Most of the originall investors in the Company did so at a very early stage (these are private equity investors which may be from VC companies or they may be "angel" investors). At the pre-IPO stage they are already making good gains, at the IPO stage the mark-up is even sharper; and when the company finally sells shares to the retail public you'd expect an even bigger markup so everyone along the food chain gets their gains; and this includes the book builders, agents, underwriters and IPO managers. Everyone needs to feed their families - and the money comes from the retail public which subscribes for shares at inflated prices.

Hi kc0257

Before IPO 13cts - Standard Acount Audit shows the company is worth 13cts per shares.

After IPO 19cts - As new shares are added at 55cts, the per share Net Asset Value become 19cts per shares.

As you buy the share at 55cts, you paid an extra 36 cts per share (55 -19 = 36). If a corolla is selling at say...$100K, you are paying about $300K for the same toyota corolla.  This is called dilution.....

Will you buy a corolla at 300K ?

Issuer think that the company is worth 55cts as ....maybe the P/E is at or below market going rate.

Anyway, if you are selling within 20mins on the first day trade......then....it doesn't really matter.  Afterall it is IPO season.

If for long term, when do you think the company will make enough profit to reach 55cts per share ?

If this company, eventually, did not meet its targeted objectives......then chances are good that it will move towards 19cts or worse less.

Good enough for you ?

Apparently XinRen will not own any of the factories and facilities due to China laws. This company only has a contractual agreement with the family to operate. Can it then still count these assets that rightly still belong to the private family as its NTA at all? dilution should be 100%...no??

Before this IPO, it is worth 13cts NAV.  After IPO, it is 19cts.

Dilution is 36cts to new investors !!!

I am wondering when it will make enough money to cover for this 36cts.....
