27/10/2010 (OSIM)
2a Total number of shares purchased 1,120,000
2b Number of shares cancelled
2c Number of shares held as treasury shares 1,120,000
3 Price paid per share S$ 1.15
OSIM is more marketing savvy and management (Ron Sim) more market-oriented, look at their share buy-back activity over the past months... Metro is more traditional with  more "old" man in the board,  most shareholders are very loyal too and Metro has less attention by the trader. Have you seen company people with lower NAV got promoted faster than those with higher NAV , it is all about how you sell and project yourself. However, over long term, Metro is a good dividend stock.

How can OSIM recover so much and is more than $1 now but company like Metro and Guthrie traded at so much discount to their NAV...Is it marketing issue??? I really don't understand....

NAV - $1.562 (have not taken into account the profit it earns from selling One financial street)

Cash from balance sheet : 164M

Recent divestment of One Financial Street of 610.9M, 45% = 280M

Pay loan of 143.5M = 136.5M

Total cash after completed sale = 164+136.5 = 300.5M

Cash/share = 300.5/634.3 = $0.4737/share

EPS 13.7 cents
PE 5.62

Hence, for $0.79 - $0.4737 = $0.3163, we get all their properties and the retail businesses......

Another one with high NAV and high eps is Guthrie........

Draw back is the dividend is low compare to the eps.....hope shareholders can highlight this at their agm......

Director own near to 70%....once cross 70%, he had to give an offer....if near to its NAV, that would be more than $0.60 compare to a share price of $0.37.....
