http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/8337080/Libyan-protesters-in-control-of-Benghazi.html

In Benghazi, centre of Libya's unrest, tens of thousands of people took to the streets on Sunday and appeared to be in control of the city.

Benghazi residents said soldiers from a unit had joined their protest and defeated a force of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's elite guards.

Gaddafi's 41-year rule in Libya looks increasingly fragile amid reports of the defections by elements of his military in Benghazi, the country's second city, and the first serious demonstrations in the capital Tripoli.

Hang Seng is down, that has revived worries about inflation and higher interest rates.

" I think this region concerned by high inflation, which is a killer for market valuation," said Pichai Lertsupongkij at broker Thanachart Securities. " Overall, this region is still in a downward direction with flows still favouring developed markets," he said.

Singapore's main index ended down 0.5 percent in a range-bound session, similar to others in the region.

Libyans rage as Gaddafi son warns of 'civil war'

http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-world/libyans-rage-as-gaddafi-son-warns-of-war-20110222-1b2q5.html

" Libya is at a crossroads. If we do not agree today on reforms ... rivers of blood will run through Libya," he said in a fiery but rambling televised speech that betrayed a note of desperation within his father's 41-year regime.

" We will take up arms ... we will fight to the last bullet. We will destroy seditious elements. If everybody is armed, it is civil war, we will kill each other ... Libya is not Egypt, it is not Tunisia."

Saif al-Islam Kadhafi, 38, who holds no formal government post but wields vast influence as his father's heir apparent, suggested that Benghazi was out of government control.

Within hours of the statement, protesters in the capital Tripoli attacked state broadcast offices and set branches of the People's Committees that are the mainstay of the regime ablaze overnight, witnesses told AFP on Monday.

" The headquarters of Al-Jamahiriya Two television and Al-Shababia radio have been sacked," one witness said by telephone on condition of anonymity.

Several cities, including Libya's second most populous Benghazi, where the protest movement started, have fallen to demonstrators following the defection of some army units, the International Federation for Human Rights said on Monday.

It put the death toll since the start of the uprising at 300 to 400.

Some 500 Libyans meanwhile stormed and looted a South Korean construction site near the capital, injuring about 15 Bangladeshi as well as three South Korean workers, Seoul's foreign ministry said.

In Cairo, Libya's envoy to the Arab League said he had resigned to " join the revolution" .

Tripoli's ambassador to Delhi also quit, as did a lower-level diplomat in Beijing who said Gaddafi may have left the country, Al-Jazeera television reported.

Several cities, including Libya's second most populous Benghazi, where the protest movement started, have fallen to demonstrators following the defection of some army units.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi vaguely promised reforms as he condemned the revolt as a foreign plot.

The elder and famously mercurial Kadhafi, 68, the longest-serving leader in the Arab world, remained out of sight as a human rights group said several cities were in the hands of the protesters, including Sirte where he has long received foreign visitors.

Broadcasts on both channels were interrupted on Sunday evening but resumed on Monday morning.

A number of witnesses said protesters had torched public buildings in the capital overnight, including the interior ministry, People's Committee offices and also police stations.

" Protesters burned and ransacked the ministry of interior building," in central Tripoli, one witness told AFP by email.

" Libya is at a crossroads. If we do not agree today on reforms ... rivers of blood will run through Libya," he said in a fiery but rambling televised speech that betrayed a note of desperation within his father's 41-year regime.

SETTING UP OF TEMPORARY COUNTER
Pursuant to the completion of the Acquisition on 7 January 2011, the Company undertook a consolidation of every twenty (20) existing shares of the Company into one (1) share (“Consolidated Shares”) on 12 January 2011, followed by the Mandatory General Offer to acquire the remaining shares of DFZ not already held by the Company and its parties acting in concert. These corporate actions resulted in a significant number of shareholders and warrantholders holding less than the requisite board lots of 1,000 shares and 1,000 warrants

I think one can never know when the counter will continue to move down or make a reverse U turn and move up again. It depends on mkt forces. If BBs Monday decided to push this counter up then you may see it bounce back again ..

Hold if you have the holding power. Set your target and once it has reached your targeted price then you may your decision to sell.

That is not exactly true...

Since it is the only newspaper in the country, people will still need to buy it.

Because there's no other choice. Furthermore, many will still want those contents

like classified ads, IT digital, health, lifestyle, comics, or just out of sheer habit of buying it.

As for opinions and local news, etc, with the abundant wealth of  free coverage on the Internet,

I am sure more and more people will make it their daily habit to be informed via the Internet.

Technically, owner have oni one wish and that is px must be push up as high as possible, then placement of share will kick in, simply owner will plus his kakis can benefit once agreement is sign with key palcement institutional funded fund, The manager will do the rest of the job to get it done....

just like Chinagaoxian famous pump to 0.47c/475c  in here (SGX)  and put a tag for Korea KOSPI listing at 0.405c

investor      ( Date: 20-Feb-2011 15:04) Posted:

While there is probably some unhappiness, with the recent private placement at a 'low price of 0.9283' for Biosensors, I think that there should be some perspective to it.

Firstly, stock prices goes up and down. If you look at the recent mkt correction, a lot of blue chips were battered down, with quite a number losing 10 % or more in the last 2 weeks.

Technically, Biosensors share price was also looking vulnerable, when it was trading at the 1.10 - 1.15 range, as it was unable to go higher for lack of a catalyst. (That it how it would appear to short term investors, and traders).

So, when the mkt began to correct significantly, the technical break of 1.10 for Biosensors was enough to cause an avalance of sellers (weak holders) as well as the opportunistic short sellers.

I don't think the mgmt of Biosensors would intentionally try to push the share price down, in order to do a share placement.

Let us imagine a different scenario. COULD IT BE POSSIBLE, that when the mkt was coming down, the mgmt of Biosensors realised that it is better to do a quick private placment, before the price goes down further, and the buyers want more discount ?

In this scenario, you would recall, that the day before the placement, the share price of Biosensors actually came down to an intra-day low of 0.995, and subsequently closed near the high of 1.04 (high was 1.06), thus allowing the mgmt, to call for a trading halt when the price was 1.04, and then coming out with the private placeement.

So - which scenario is the real one ? Price being pushed down, to give buyers a good discount, or price being supported (BEFORE it becomes worse), so that the private placement is done at a 'reasonable' price ?

Frankly, I do not know. BUT, what I do know, is that both buyers and sellers (ie the mgmt and biggest shareholder), needs to come out with a win-win solution, as both parties benefit for the eventual greater good of Biosensors.

Again, not a call to buy/sell/hold or short.
