In others word, when TT fail as a elected president to unify S'poreans. Mr PM Lee had just spoken will be seen, will unwrite this process together with his two deputy DPM, to make Singapore ticking and alive....

We do not want strong military here to show case a war like scenerio. that will be a middle East here, and another Bangkok here.

When TT as president elected, fail to unite it citizens and common folks here. Mr PM Lee will.

One will truly experience what life is, when one goes thru the war.. If we dont have a 'strong ground' of singaporeans, we become very vulnerable to outsdie world......So, think carefully, why would we want to bring in so call " FT" ?? Do we not already experiencing LOW BIRGH RATE?

This result indicated, will apply more pressure to ruling PAP party cadres and especially to PM Lee, on election 2016 general election.

Elected as 7th Singapore president, if and when Dr Tony Tan fail in his job fail to unite political divide.

I am sure he will as usual, will fail to unite the political divide, (as very predictable) to unify all S'poreans and uplift common folks provety. Mr PM Lee will do a better job then.

By any yardstick. SPOILERS - Did you did something, to error?. Do you feel sorry for someone?.

Most important is....The real losser is voters who spoilted their vote, spoilted the market.

Spoilted vote took up 37,826 rejected votes. who will then decide who is d real winner.

Note: There are 150,000 S'poreans overseas not taken into account, but only 9 polling stations with about 5,500 voters. Result show real winner is not TT, if and when 150,000 oversea S'poreans is taken into account.

On last Friday. BBs changed hands @0.495c, +DOW closed up +134.72pt or +1.21%.

Aug 29th/31th. Heavy trading expecting btw @0.505/0.535. No trading on 30th Aug (Hari Raya Puasa).

SS (OV8) uptrend is consolidating tis coming weekend, (Thurs/esp-Fri 1st/2nd Sept) toward new high.

Yup..confident in SS is there, for now, oso expecting a volatile coming week. Happy trading/punting..Ya.

With Dow showing good +ve sign after Ben Bernanke's speech despite a drop of more than 200 pts at the beginning, I suppose the confident level of many investors has not affected too much.

Hope that the Asia bourses will follow suit on Monday

Bernanke pledges support and DOW flip flop, turn positive

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said the central bank still has tools to stimulate the economy without providing details or signaling when or whether policy makers might deploy them.

“In addition to refining our forward guidance, the Federal Reserve has a range of tools that could be used to provide additional monetary stimulus,” Bernanke said in a speech today to central bankers and economists gathered at an annual forum in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He said a second day has been added to the next policy meeting in September to “allow a fuller discussion” of the economy and the Fed’s possible response.

While Bernanke sought to reassure investors and the public that U.S. growth is safe in the long run and that the Fed still has tools to aid the recovery if needed, he stopped short of indicating that the central bank will move ahead with a third round of government bond-buying.

Stocks may recover. But don't expect much.

So what could Bernanke say that won't freak out jittery stock traders and investors?, earlier this month following its last policy meeting. At that meeting, the Fed controversially pledged to keep short-term rates " exceptionally low" until mid-2013. Some market experts (not to mention 3 Fed members) disagreed with the notion of spelling out a specific time frame for raising rates.

Fed also said that it " will regularly review the size and composition of its securities holdings and is prepared to adjust those holdings as appropriate." It added that there is a " range of policy tools available to promote a stronger economic recovery" and that it " is prepared to employ these tools as appropriate."

And it's that language that market strategists said they are hoping to hear again from Bernanke. In particular, they would love for Bernanke to give more details about those tools -- even if one of them is not QE3.

Economists surveyed by CNNMoney said that lowering the rates that the Fed pays banks on excess reserves could encourage financial firms to lend more.
There also has been chatter in the bond market about how Bernanke could bring back a modified version of the 1960s " Operation Twist" program. The Fed could sell short-term debt and buy longer-term bonds in order to further flatten the yield curve (even though there is some concern it's already too flat) without adding to its already overstuffed balance sheet.

The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) rose 80 points, or 0.7%, and the S& P 500 (SPX) climbed 13 points, or 1.1%. Bank of America's (BAC, Fortune 500) stock rallied 24%, making in the biggest gainer on both indexes.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA, Fortune 500) announced a $5 billion investment in preferred shares of Bank of America Thursday morning. The news was a welcome surprise, as shares of Bank of America have been hammered recently, down roughly 40% over the past month.
