Netizens spoof SMRT CEO's sedan-chair picture

Photoshopped spoofs of SMRT CEO Saw Phaik Hwa being carried by shirtless men in places around the world is the latest Internet meme created by netizens.

In the original picture, Ms Saw was carried by shirtless men on a sedan chair at a SMRT dinner and dance event.

Another video was created combining videos of ex-North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il's death and captions which were related to the MRT disruptions last week.

It's selling the date, the Winter Solstice in the coming year, as a time of renewal. Many archeologists argue that the 2012 reference on a 1,300-year-old stone tablet only marks the end of a cycle in the Mayan calendar.

http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/climate-change/exclusive-the-methane-time-bomb-938932.html

first evidence that millions of tons of a greenhouse gas 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide is being released into the atmosphere from beneath the Arctic seabed has been discovered by scientists.

Underground stores of methane are important because scientists believe their sudden release has in the past been responsible for rapid increases in global temperatures, dramatic changes to the climate, and even the mass extinction of species.

Arctic region as a whole has seen a 4C rise in average temperatures over recent decades and a dramatic decline in the area of the Arctic Ocean covered by summer sea ice. Many scientists fear that the loss of sea ice could accelerate the warming trend because open ocean soaks up more heat from the sun than the reflective surface of an ice-covered sea.

We may be suffering  for 40 years for us and a setback for several hundred of years.

40 years of waste land and many hundred of billions lost, if not in trillions gone to feed into contaminated area, an area roughly the size of Luxembourg or 3X more then d size of Singapore, effecting one part of (southern), part of Malaya, the South China sea, Straits of Malacca and a big  part of western Sumatra.

hope they won't dump the huge volume of radioactive waste and debris into the ocean during cleanup. might as well cover up the whole area with cement if engineering allows.

U are correct. Foreigners do come with headache. Everyone-Just human, included local and new citizens.

To be fair. There are equally as many FT as we can get, needless to say more, (more  good then bad.)

Doing a good / bad job by politicians, be it for or against, will be tesed again in 2015/16 GE.

OIC. The hirer must hav seen the result of this outcone (good)  for nine years, there after....

True, She does a good job  (almost perfect)  and oso as bad, make me think of  Mr Hsieh  (Ex-CEO of  SGX).

with full respects to all those commented,  actually, Saw was head-hunted from outside to be CEO 10 years ago, and those SVP/Directors with engineering background are helping her anyway, let  them try their best to resolve these problems...

actually, most of the money made came from retailing rental business,   it's not enough if SMRT will to depend on fare fees alone, than there will be even lesser money left or maintenance and repair unless they raise fare fees even higher than current rate...
